Seifert Project-Family Room-Before

Welcome to the Seifert Project; a huge project we've been working on for my neighbor. She has great, big, beautiful rooms, but they need some polish and posh to make them fabulous--while remaining functional (read: she has 4 kiddos).

Before
Beautiful fireplace and built-ins

The family room opens to the breakfast nook & kitchen.

She might seriously kill me for putting these messy pictures on the blog, but it was just a few days after Christmas and I did catch her in the midst of putting away Holiday decor. OOPS!
Hey, it will make for some really good "after" pictures, right?

We started by giving the homeowner a glimpse of our "vision" for the room with this custom moodboard  and an accompanying budget.

This is the super-inexpensive rug from Home Decorator's we proposed in the mood board. It looks completely different on their website, so we went by the customer reviews for the low down on its true colors.  Based on the reviews, it appears the colors are much more subdued and muted than on the website image. One reviewer posted this picture of her own space and that clenched the  deal. It will be here on Monday! At under $300 for a 10x 13, it is basically disposable.

Close-up of the rug we ordered for the space.

I'm dying to get the painters out to her house to get going on the transformation. In the meantime, we've been moving some of the furniture around and playing with accessorizing the bookshelves. I'll post those pictures tomorrow.
